A Resurgence of Bed Bugs — The Importance of Heat Treatment

Largely absent since the 1950s, bed bugs have returned with a hungry vengeance over the last decade. Electric bed bug heaters increase room temperature at a slow, even rate, preventing damage to furniture, drywall and other personal property while killing bugs efficiently.

Unlike insecticides and pesticides, heat kills bed bugs at all stages of their lifecycle without introducing harmful chemicals into your home or environment.

Fans circulate heated air through cracks and crevices to reach every infestation zone, easily penetrating furniture, closets, box springs and any other potential bed bug home.

Heaters can be powered by an internal wall plug or by a generator in a sound insulated trailer. Power cords can reach suites in buildings up to 25 stories in height.

Our electric bed bug heaters are QPS certified and regulated to not exceed 60 °C. They strictly adhere to building codes and are permitted to be used in any building, as they are not propane or kerosene powered.

Heat can be controlled directly or remotely to ensure the safety of personnel, property and the facility or home itself. All heaters are thoroughly monitored while in use.

Get Rid of formaldehyde and other VOCs Off-gassing Odor

Offgassing, sometimes called outgassing, is a term that describes the release of gases, chemicals, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the air from household products and building materials. Urea formaldehyde-based thermal insulation (UFFI) is a foam that was once used to insulate buildings, and has been banned in Canada under the Hazardous Products Act since 1980. UFFI was banned due to the high levels of formaldehyde that were given off during installation, and it also continued off-gassing of formaldehyde from poorly installed insulation. The amount of formaldehyde released from off-gassing decreases over time. However, for it to disappear completely, it can take months to years. There is a correlation between indoor VOC emissions and temperature. Heat treatment is a the best way to expedite the off-gassing process and make it disappear completely.
